Introduction to Hotglue
For this task, we were simply asked to experiment with an online website creation tool called Hotglue. We were told to test Hotglue's boundaries by trying to create the wackiest websites possible. This enabled me to find Hotglue’s strengths and limitations and also got me used to using the tool to its full potential.
For my home page I took the theme of psychedelic owls. This meant I could import a lot of different types of media and implement them in different ways. I experimented with still images, moving gifs, .png files with transparent backgrounds, video and using the basic shape and font tools. In this page I only used moving gifs, embedding video and still images used as the background option. I also used some tools provided by Hotglue including “text objects”, colours, links to another page and text in several different fonts.
For the second page I used similar media but started to experiment more with .png images with transparent backgrounds. I also used .gif's and still .jpeg images as well as a link back to the first page. I also used a plain colour background instead of an image.
I then began to experiment with adding custom code to the web page. I tried to create a background that would not change, no matter what the screen size or resolution of the users computer was. I did this by using the basic html code shown below. THis was partially successful, however I found a better method of doing the same thing later on and used this in my final website.
